The Doctors at self unbound have helped me to transform my experience of life. My 13 year old daughter went there with a tailbone injury, which is difficult to heal and within 6 months to a year they had guided her into her body healing itself. I too have been transformed. They help guide your body to become aware of where it is holding tension, and then to for me to use my breath to release it and allow energy to move through out the body. It turns out our body has an innate ability to heal itself and the doctors at self unbound help many members access that potential and gain more energy through out their nervous systems.

Believe the reviews. I’m a new participant here. I have visited with healing techniques and practitioners all over the world and it is a special gift to have Self Unbound in my backyard. Dr. Amy, Dr. Tyler, and their wonderful welcoming staff have not only assisted my body in accessing more authenticity, joy, pleasure, safety, energy in the body, and expansion but they have also created a loving and compassionate place for community. I have only completed a week of care (3 visits) and it is possible to start feeling improvement immediately if you are open to and believe it is possible for you.

This is where the real healing begins. From walking into a clinic where the staff treats you like family, to being able to properly ambulate through your daily life again. I don’t just mean at the same level before your injury, but at one greater. Coming to Self Unbound and being entrained every week for just over a year has been the most productive decision for my health that I have made in years. I am truly blessed to be welcomed into such a beautiful family. Thank you Self Unbound Family!

An incredible space for real healing. The somatic work I’ve done at Self Unbound has fundamentally changed how my nervous system handles stress. I'm excited for what else the future brings!

How it works

What happens after you reach out

  1. First visit: consultation and nervous system exam Intake forms are completed online beforehand. The chiropractor discusses health history and goals, then performs a nervous system exam. The consultation is complimentary.
  2. Second visit: report of findings and care plan Results are reviewed, the physical exam is completed, and a personalized care plan and payment options are discussed. Bringing a spouse or loved one is encouraged.
  3. Ongoing care and reassessment Regular visits, wellness education and at-home exercises, with reassessments to track progress and adjust the plan.

In Rachel's words

Situations Rachel handles every week

Pain or tension that keeps coming back after other treatments

When massage, medication, physical therapy or standard adjustments have helped only for a while, Rachel looks at the nervous system behind the pattern. NetworkSpinal uses light, precise touches along the spine intended to release tension and improve communication between brain and body.

Headaches, migraines, jaw pain or neck pain

These are among the conditions the practice lists. Care starts with a consultation and a nervous system exam rather than a one-size adjustment.

Stress that shows up as poor sleep, anxiety or overwhelm

Self Unbound's stated focus is helping the brain and body become more adaptable and resilient under stress. Rachel herself came to the practice in 2019 as a patient dealing with severe anxiety and other health issues.

Low energy, or a body that feels stuck in a pattern

The practice describes its care as helping the body do what it already knows how to do once interference is reduced. Care plans include adjustments, wellness education and at-home exercises, with regular reassessments.

Wanting gentle care for a child or during pregnancy

Self Unbound offers pediatric and pregnancy chiropractic, is a DFW Mom & Child Approved Provider and offers family plans. Rachel is a former teacher who describes a special place in her heart for working with kids and families.

About

Rachel Ijames

Dr. Rachel Ijames is one of four chiropractors at Self Unbound, a North Dallas wellness practice open since July 2016. She first came to the practice in 2019 as a patient dealing with severe anxiety and other health issues, then earned her Doctor of Chiropractic from Parker University in August 2023. She also holds an honors degree in literature from the University of Texas at Dallas and was a teacher before changing careers.

Her care uses NetworkSpinal, light and precise touches along the spine intended to help the brain and body adapt to stress. A free consultation and nervous system exam come first; a care plan with reassessments follows.

Why clients choose Rachel

  • Care that addresses the nervous system behind the symptom rather than the symptom alone
  • A free consultation and an individualized exam before any care plan is proposed
  • A practice that has served North Dallas since 2016, with family plans and discounts for military and first responders

Member of BNI Preston Center since 2026.

FAQ

Questions people ask Rachel

What is NetworkSpinal and how is it different from a regular adjustment?

NetworkSpinal uses light, precise touches to the spine and surrounding areas rather than forceful manipulation. The practice describes it as a way to help the nervous system work more efficiently so the body can adapt and heal, and says it is safe for all ages.

What happens at the first visit?

A complimentary consultation about health concerns and goals, followed by a nervous system exam. Intake forms are completed online beforehand, and the practice asks patients to avoid strenuous exercise and stimulants such as coffee for four hours before the exam.

Do you see children and pregnant women?

Yes. Self Unbound offers pediatric and pregnancy chiropractic, is a DFW Mom & Child Approved Provider and offers family care plans.

Does insurance cover it?

Coverage varies. The office can help check requirements with the insurer, accepts HSA and FSA funds, offers CareCredit financing, and has family plans and military and first responder discounts.

Do I need a doctor's order?

No. A doctor's order is not needed to see a chiropractor, and care is voluntary and can be stopped at any time.
